My mother is one of the best artist I know. And when I say artist, I'm not just talking about drawing or painting. I'm talking about anything artistic.Summer Quilts was inspired by her work. So was Field of Dreams, Jessamyn at Rockledge, and The Goat and the 50 Cent Book . The truth is, she probably inspired all of my work, at some level.
But this one is special. I did this painting specifically for my mother. Blue Willow is a very special style of plates, cups, and other kitchen accessories. They are my mother's favorites. I painted her this blue will cup, which included some flowers from our garden. Looking at the print gives me so much happiness. I hope it will you too!
My biggest artistic influences were my great uncle and my cousin Christine. My great uncle worked on a Clay medallion sculpture portrait of me. My cousin Christine showed me how to shade. The sun coming through the window on a candlestick. She said to look at the candlestick us if it was a photograph negative. That made sense to me.
I never really did decide that I wanted to be an artist I just was.
The advice I would give to other artists. Inspire each other. Find artists that fit and can carry each other along with positive feed back. That is what will keep you creating, painting and drawing.
